Comments & Testimonials

I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed it. I travelled with a close friend and we had the most amazing time. I could not pick a favourite moment if I had to, but the ability to see the beautiful countryside that we did and at our own pace was incredible. Each day we had tired feet but so worth it. Passing the livestock and having them trust our passing as an everyday occurrence never failed to put a smile on my face.

Some (ok most) of the area felt like a fairytale setting. I try not to enter experiences with expectations so I will not say this exceeded but I will say I could not have enjoyed it more.

Following the route notes was fun and definitely took a little bit of getting used to. The few times we got turned around, having the GPS was very helpful. Of course, getting lost is really half the fun so we managed nicely. Deciding what was a kissing gate or a gate or a field gate was such fun!

Each cafe we stopped at was delicious but more importantly the locals were so nice to chat with… and passing a residence that had a beautiful basket of magazines out “free for the taking” was very charming. I like to hand out 🇨🇦 “pins” on my journies and seeing the reactions of locals receiving these “badges” was such fun!

Each accommodation was just perfect at the end of a long walking day… even if there were stairs awaiting our tired feet! I know my companion especially enjoyed the White Hart Royal and especially “The Snug” to cozy up for a relaxing drink.

I enjoyed the Windrush House for the warmth of the proprietors and not just the nice sweet they left in the room each day!

I will try to attach a few photos to this email. Thank you so much for such a top notch experience. Wishing you all the best!

I had an absolutely amazing time on my walk. The peace and beauty of the Cotswolds is incredible. I felt very safe on my own and met many helpful and friendly people along the way. The route notes were excellent and I was glad I downloaded the GPS maps as suggested for the few times I got off track. I enjoyed every place that I stayed. All had comfy beds and excellent breakfasts. Highlights were The Manor Close B&B in Bourton-on-the-Water (host Sheena) and Windrush House in Broadway (host Kate). Sheena and Kate were absolutely lovely, suggesting books, sharing local history, and providing oh so tasty food. Luggage transfers were perfect, walk preparation information was thorough and the few questions I had before the trip were promptly answered by Adam. I highly recommend Cotswolds Walks. Thank you for making this a beautiful walking holiday.

We had an amazing trip! The great communication from your office was part of what made this such a great experience. There were so many moments in the trip when we would come around a bend and exclaim about the beautiful landscape. We loved those days when we would be entering the village from high ground, it was breathtaking!

We wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time visiting The Cotswolds and taking the walking tour you planned for us. The area is simply beautiful and the circular route was full of lovely landscapes and villages, and fascinating history, too. We felt a bit sad as we completed our circle on the last day. Thank you for all you did to arrange the logistics of the trip. Everything went very smoothly.

The written directions were very good, and then the app was a great backup. We did occasionally make a mistake, but quickly realized it and were able to course-correct without going too far from the route. The signposts and medallions also were very helpful.

We had delicious food everywhere we went and appreciated the suggestions for restaurants and things to see in the villages. We were glad we scheduled an extra day in Chipping Campden. It turned out to be a good break and we were able to really explore the village. You live in a beautiful and unspoiled place!
After our walk, we took the train to London and spent several days there. It was quite a contrast to The Cotswolds, but fascinating, too.
We hope we will be able to visit again before too long. It was a very special experience.

We’ve been back from our Cotswold walk almost a week now, and I want to take a moment to say ‘thank you’.  The arrangements you made all worked out as planned, and between the booklet and the phone app, we never got far off course. The beastly heat slowed us down some, but I’m guessing that temperature control is not up to you. It did give us a good excuse to absorb a decent quantity of British beer or cider every evening.
I have told everyone interested how well things worked out and will continue to do so. I don’t know if that will result directly in more business for you, but I’m sure a Good Word doesn’t hurt.

My wife and I were initially circumspect for the need of such detail your guide provided and we laughed at the thought and at some of the guide’s vocabulary, but a chance meeting with an American couple the night before our first day on the Walk quickly dispelled any doubt. They had just used your services for their Walk and said to follow the guide and we wouldn’t go wrong. We did, and they were right! Again, thank you for taking good care of us.

I’ve been meaning to write all week to tell you we had an AMAZING time on our walk! Simply fantastic! Everything from your detailed trail guidance to the inns you chose was perfect. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Thank you, Adam, Andrew, and Elizabeth for the best vacation ever. My only problem is that I am trying to accept that I don’t live in the Cotswolds! No more paths through farmland, no more beautiful quaint villages, no more pubs with the best ales ever. We are already looking at which walk we want to do next. The walking instructions with the map and GPS download worked perfectly. We never got lost.

We had a wonderful time. Great scenery, exercise, food, accommodations, and people. Everything went as planned with no difficulties or upsets. I did miss one turn at the top of the hill coming from Blockley to Moreton-in-Marsh, but it was self inflicted. We considered it 2 miles of bonus hiking. The wife and I are already talking about another Cotswold's or perhaps coastal hike to different villages in another year or two. We will certainly be in touch to arrange accordingly.

Well done to all involved and thanks again for your kind efforts in making this a very memorable adventure.

The trip was phenomenal, and I will definitely be back.

The village of Naunton was especially magical, even in a light rain. I can only imagine what it is like on a sunny summer day.

The Lion Inn was also very charming.

A very well organized trip in a beautiful walking area.

Hi! Joe and I absolutely loved our Cotswold walking experience! The pubs we liked were Crown and Trumpets, the White Royal Hart Inn, and The Mount Inn. We loved all the villages, but the Slaughters and Broadway were favored. We thought our Inns were charming, clean, and comfortable. The people at the Royal Hart Inn in Moreton-in-Marsh were extremely helpful and we had a great room the last night we were there. The hostess at the Hadley House was charming. All breakfasts were wonderful, especially the Scottish smoked salmon! The walks were fun and the countryside is beautiful. Your directions were superlative and the GPS was the greatest. I’m going to be sending you pictures and videos. Feel free to send them to others or use them elsewhere. They will be in different emails... thank you for planning out a wonderful holiday for us!

I wanted to drop you a note to thank you again for coming to the rescue and getting my wallet back to me, when I left it at the bakery in Winchcombe. I couldn’t be happier with how efficiently and willingly you resolved my situation. You turned a potential disaster into a non-issue. Thank you! I also wanted to let you know how much my family and I enjoyed our trip. The organization was superb, directions outstanding and accommodations charming. We loved the Cotswolds and have already talked about coming back some day for a longer stay. Even Day 1, which was socked in with rain the whole day, was an experience we would not trade. We will definitely recommend your company to our friends.

Favorite accommodation was White Hart Royal Hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh. The rooms were modern, yet classic. We loved the history about the place. The courtyard was lovely, breakfast was fantastic and the pub was terrific.

The walking experience was the highlight of our entire vacation in England. We loved walking the trails and found the directions to be spot on. Lunch at The Farmers Arms in Guiting Power (homemade rabbit pie and a pint) was the quintessence of everything we thought the Cotswolds would be.

Even though it rained the entire first day, we would not trade it for anything. Other memorable moments included the wall paintings in Hailes Church, the view from Beckbury Camp, ridges and furrows, pheasants and stuffing ourselves with blackberries. And the most memorable experience for my kids was the virtual traveling petting zoo of friendly sheep, horses and calves.

We had a wonderful holiday thank you and were amazed to spend our whole walk with NO rain!!!
Your route notes were very well prepared, were easy to follow and we enjoyed the country scenery and villages.

We really enjoyed the White Hart Inn, it's decoration, friendly welcome and the rooms on the 'ramblers floor' which was reserved for us.

We had a great time, everything went exceedingly smoothly. The accommodations were wonderful, the directions spot on. At most, we had only one instance of wondering should we go left or right, and that wonderment lasted about two minutes. A wonderful experience.

We chose Cotswold Walks because of the glowing comments and recommendations that we read, and we were not mislead or disappointed. First, we met several individuals and couples who were also following one CW tour or another along some of the paths that we followed. When we asked how they were enjoying their experience and what they thought of CW, the response was uniformly favorable and enthusiastic. That leads me to believe that our own wonder-filled experience was actually quite typical. Second, we found the guidebook was indispensable, but we made good use of mobile apps that made navigation itself a large part of the pleasure. One piece of gear that we didn’t take was a pair of binoculars. We think it would have been a smart move to scan the far side of a field, for example, to locate the next gate or way marker in the direction indicated by the guidebook. We shall try that on our next walk ― and there will be another, we hope! Like so many others, we have nothing but good things to say about Cotswold Walks, and we really haven’t the words to describe the beauty of the Cotswolds themselves. You must go see it for yourself!

I want to say how much we enjoyed our trip to the Cotswolds and how well all the arrangements with your company worked out. It was truly fantastic and not only met our expectations but exceeded them. Everything about the trip, including the accommodations, restaurants, walking notes, maps, and taxi pick-up arrangement, was excellent. Suffice to say that we will wholeheartedly recommend Cotswold Walks to all of our friends and to the public. You and your colleagues have been great to work with and, if we return to the Cotswolds, we will surely schedule our trip again with Cotswolds Walks.

My wife, her friend and I really enjoyed our Cotswold Walk. Your directions were flawless. So very helpful to list the pubs, cafes and tea rooms in each village and town. We ate scones, clotted cream and jam at every opportunity...Delicious! I will admit that it was a challenge to build any momentum in the walking. I counted 205 gates over six days of walking, which averages out to about 35 gates a day, or about six an hour!

My sister and I had a marvellous time on our Cotswold Walks vacation. We found everything to be well-organized and wonderful. The maps were great, the overnight accommodations were very nice and the people we encountered were all friendly and helpful. I have talked about our trip to many friends and family. I have encouraged many to check out your walks. Thank you for offering such an opportunity to see first-hand this lovely part of England.

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and slept well each night. All the accommodation was faultless and breakfasts were great. The booklet of maps and instructions was excellent. Before leaving New Zealand we were sure that we would get lost but your guide was so good that we didn’t get lost at all and only missed one turning where a sign was obscured by tree growth. Only took a minute to realise and we were on the right course again. We have no hesitation recommending your company and the walk to anyone contemplating such a venture.

June 2017
This is to thank you for putting together such a wonderful walking tour for us. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our Cotswolds adventure. We lost our hearts to this exquisitely beautiful part of England. It was nice to have our bags waiting for us each time we arrived at the next port-of-call. And what a treat to walk with nothing but small day-packs, especially given the heat-wave which coincided with our walk! The walk itself was superb, and the wide variety of scenery was an unexpected delight. We so appreciated that the trail alternated between sun-drenched fields, meadows, and pastures and cool, shady woods, so that we never felt too warm or too cold for long.

But it was the breath-taking views of rolling hills and fetching villages that we found most bewitching. Each village was a gem with its own unique attractions and charms. We loved them all and regretted having to leave them behind. The eateries we enjoyed most were easily two of our pub-lunch stops, the Hollow Bottom and the Mount Inn. Delicious food, convivial atmosphere, congenial hosts…we could go on and on. We also couldn’t believe the quality of the Cotswold ciders–so delicious and thirst-quenching, particularly after walking many miles in the intense heat. We were well received at every pub, restaurant, and café we visited and made many new friends along the way. We were very pleased with all our accommodations, each was well situated, well appointed, offered delicious and substantial breakfast, and was run by warm and genial hosts.

My last day of walking, from Blockley to Moreton (with a couple of hours spent at the Falconry Center) was cool and beautiful! Your friend Les was very kind and helpful, and made it possible for me to see Hidcote, despite the awful heat. The accommodations were generally very nice. Taxis (before I connected with Les) were impossible, but I was rescued a couple of times by generous villagers. I luckily had downloaded to my phone the map, and it saved me on the several occasions on which I took a wrong turn - the download is free with the purchase of the map. I managed to walk about 40 miles all told, and except for the heat, I count my trip as pleasant and successful. Thank you for arranging it!

We would like to thank you so much for the great walk we had in The Cotswolds. We walked for four days starting in Winchcombe and the arrangement was perfect. The walking directions in the booklet were detailed and easy to follow. The hotels were excellent. All the pubs, restaurants and hotels were very nice, and the people very friendly. The landscape is quite similar to parts of Norway, but also very different. It was strange for us to walk straight through the fields, in Norway the farmers would not allow this. You have to walk all the way around! Once again thank you, and maybe we’ll contact you again and be back another year.

In early May 2016, my husband and I (both 69) completed a 5 day circular walk with Cotswold Walks. The towns and villages were all beautiful with so many interesting buildings to look at and shops to browse. We especially loved Chipping Camden, Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Winchcombe. In the accommodation in Chipping Camden the room was spacious and the food excellent and we had a great chat over breakfast with the owner. In Winchcombe we loved having a glass of wine by the huge old fireplace then a delicious dinner in the restaurant.

The walking itself was amazing. There was quite a bit of up and down but nothing we couldn’t handle. I think the biggest climb was up to Broadway Tower so we were thrilled to have a great cup of coffee when we got to the top. The scenery was so varied and luckily for us the weather was completely dry. We loved seeing the lambs everywhere. We are already planning to do the whole Cotswold Way next year. Andrew and his staff at Cotswold Walks were great to deal with. We felt the cost was very reasonable for what was provided. I would highly recommend Cotswold Walks to anyone and can’t stress enough how perfect this whole area is for anyone who loves to walk.

Thank you Cotswold Walks, for making our trip-of-a-lifetime a reality. Working with you on the details was a pleasure and all five days of our walk went like clockwork. The walks were interesting, fun, scenic and, for those who have doubts, easy to do. Every bed & breakfast and inn was comfortable, refreshingly different and staffed by friendly, welcoming and efficient hosts. We especially appreciate Cotswold Walks having arranged for there to be no rain throughout our circuit (the sunny, warm Sunday was a pleasant surprise indeed). We've told our friends about Cotswold Walks.

Thank you for organizing such a fabulous walk. Frankly, this trip was one of the best things I've ever done. I loved being able to walk, so unencumbered and free. I really enjoyed how the terrain varied greatly from woodlands to wheat fields to sheep pastures. I adored walking through small villages, church graveyards and past the lushest cottage gardens. My favorite walk was from Bourton-on-the-Water to Winchcombe. All the B&Bs were utterly perfect: quaint and quiet
I walked alone and loved it. The narrative instructions were very clear I will also say that walkers should be prepared for a learning curve while reading the instructions; as an American, there was a sight cultural difference in how things were described. I took advantage of many of your suggestions. For example, I visited the Batsford Arboretum and Garden Center twice, Sudeley Castle, Sezincote House, and the Hidcote and Kiftsgate gardens. I will absolutely do it again; I plan to do the Oxford to Bath walk in the near future.

We are very happy with our trip in Cotswold. Everything went well, and we had no problems at all! The guide was very good, precise and very instructive. The best guide we have ever had.

The hotels were nice, good quality and charming. Will also mention the nice weather, even if that is not any of your responsibility. We just love the landscape and the scenery of Cotswold. We are used to mountain hiking in Norway, and the rolling hills of Cotswold and the easy walks were a welcoming contrast.
With a photo from one of the nice fields we crossed, we thank you for the nice trip and your good service. We surely will recommend Cotswold Walks, and hope to be back some sunny day.

My daughter, Holly, and I had a fantastic time on our walking tour! It's something I've wanted to do for many years, and it will remain one of the most memorable experiences of my life. What a wonderful time of year to walk, with all the young farm animals and wild flowers everywhere. The lambs were particularly entertaining to watch, and we got a little carried away taking photos of them. We had mixed weather throughout, and some of the route was quite muddy, but that wasn't anything we hadn't expected. Each of the four days was unique in terms of the terrain and the scenery, and although the last day was a bit of a struggle trudging uphill against huge winds and rain, every moment was special none-the-less. The entire route was incredibly scenic and serene, with many a friendly wave from the local farmers. I'd like to thank you for doing such a thorough and efficient job of preparing both the pre-tour information and the route notes. We always knew just what to expect, and the notes and maps were so detailed, and the directions so clear, that we had no need of any other guidance along the way. The accommodations were all excellent; the rooms were wonderfully comfortable, and I can't say enough about how helpful the staff were. Thanks for arranging such a wonderful holiday for us - would love to do another soon!

First, everything about Cotswolds Walks was great. From your website to the booking forms to the guides, we found the entire experience first class. Congratulations on developing such a complete package. The guide book was extremely well done. All of the directions were accurate, including the advice that sometimes the path might not be too evident. We only had two miscues where we had to double back and each time it was how we interpreted the directions. Our Cotswolds Walk was a trip of a lifetime and you helped make it so special. We will definitely recommend your service to others. Thank you so much.

I just wanted to let you know that we've returned from our walk and had a wonderful, wonderful time. We loved all the accommodations, the general information you provided and the excellent maps. It did rain two days, but those were still perfect in their own way. You live in a beautiful country. We miss it already. Thank you for your help!

We think Cotswold Walks did a terrific job: pre-trip guidance (what to pack, how to prepare for the hikes), maps, general info (where to eat and what to see in each small hamlet), hotel and B&B reservations, and transporting our luggage from place to place each day. I'd recommend them without hesitation.

The trip arranged by Cotswold Walks was special and allowed us to connect with nature and each other in ways we hadn’t before experienced.

Here is an excerpt from Clark’s wonderful essay on his trip to the Cotswolds to read the full piece head to our Facebook page.

…..Everyday around noon we’d find a pub for lunch. As we didn’t see any other walkers the first three days, it was generally easy to score a table. Even in the larger towns of perhaps 500 hundred people, tourist activity was still light, as our trip started in early June. The second day we had a fabulous ploughman’s lunch at the Farmers Arms’ in Guiting Power, and for most of the meal, we were the only patrons. Local product was abundant and delicious, including breads, cheeses, fruit, vegetables and meat. Given the reputation of English food, we were pleasantly surprised at how scrumptious we found all the local offerings. I took a special liking to clotted cream on scones.

Day three was our favorite, combining views that seemed to stretch across to Ireland, with quickly changing scenery that included wooded sections, villages with clusters of charming houses – Stanton was unreal…

We were very pleased with the tour. The directions were easier to follow than we thought they would be. The only part on which we had a little trouble was between Chipping Campden and Bourton on Water, along the edge of some connected fields. The accommodations were all good. I liked the hotel in Winchcombe the best and the B&B in Broadway the least.

I notice that your website contains mostly pictures of villages, without much in the way of pictures of the beautiful English countryside, which is most of the walk.

We had a wonderful holiday and are now back in the US.

The route instructions you provided were excellent but we got badly lost the first day shortly after leaving Stow-on-the-Wold and crossing A429. Finally, a lady at the big stable block pointed us in the right direction. She thought the new property owner who replaced some old field gates might not have replaced some of the way markers. I thought you might like to know this for the benefit of your other walkers.

Just wanted to send you a short note of Thanks for arranging this tour and doing it on such short notice. Everything you arranged; from maps and hiking directions to luggage transfer and accommodation went like clock work with no glitches what-so-ever. I am very pleased to say the B&B hosts, accommodation, and breakfasts exceeded my expectations. In spite of the rainy weather and muddy trekking for the first two days, I had a fantastic time and have no hesitation in recommending your Cotswold Walking Holiday company. Thanks again, Richard

We had a wonderful walking trip and we thank you! The instructions scared us at first, but turned out to be wonderfully accurate and not hard to follow. We showed them at one point to a local dog walker who joined us for a bit and he said they were much better than others he had seen. Your B & B people were uniformly helpful, welcoming, and supportive. So congratulations on a good job!
