Comments & Testimonials

We had a wonderful trip. Speaking solely for myself as one of 4 in our group, I was satisfied with the trip. Of course what’s not to like about such beautiful countryside, but in terms of the services provided by Cotswolds Walks, after trying to get taxis on a few unscheduled occasions, I now have an even greater appreciation for the detailed planning and valuable coordination that went into preparing our itinerary. Adam was great over all and responsive whenever we needed an adjustment to our hiking plan so we had terrific service on both the advance and real time management of our needs.

Adam – First of all I wanted you to know that we had an excellent time in the Cotswold. We truly appreciated the arrangements that you made for us and the pathways that you chose. It was exactly the type of experiences that we were looking for, and Cotswold Walks exceeded our expectations.

We had a great time on our trip. Really appreciated the service that Andrew, Adam and Barb provided both before the trip as we planned and during the trip. Andrew was available when needed and checked in with us the one day that we were late arriving at a destination. Much appreciated and the accommodations chosen were excellent. We really enjoyed the entire experience and will be recommending Cotswold Walks to friends and family.

June 2023

This was our second adventure with Cotswold Walks. We so thoroughly enjoyed walking the Cotswold Ring in May 2022 that we decided to come back for another experience. This year we were very pleased with Adam’s attention in incorporating our suggestions into our Tailor Made walk from Cheltenham to Bath. The distances were perfect and the GPS proved to be invaluable. Extending our stays by 1 or 2 nights on occasion proved an excellent choice. It allowed us time to become better acquainted with a particular area. In particular, The Painswick Hotel in Painswick and The Manor House in Castle Combe were exceptional layovers. Memorable moments were chatting with fellow hikers from different areas of the world. We were fortunate enough to come across a couple from Virginia on our 3rd day out. Luck would have it is that we met up again several times thereafter, be it on the trail, local accommodations or at a pub after our walk. What was exceptionally neat was on our last day in Bath where we unexpectedly met again. We enjoyed our evening together over a great meal offered up at the Scallop Shell in Bath…a very nice ending to a fabulous trip. Thank you to the team from Cotswold Walks.

My daughter, Rachel, and I had another wonderful Cotswold Walks tour in early April. We appreciated all the back and forth with Adam to get the details right for our custom-made adventure. We also appreciate your arranging the weather so that we had almost no rain and very comfortable temperatures.

My father and I had an absolutely stellar experience with Cotswold Walks! The communication was terrific throughout our booking process, and logistically, our experience getting from inn to inn and finding our luggage and rooms waiting for us was flawless. The maps and route notes were crystal clear and we didn't get lost once during our three days of walking. The routes chosen for us were delightful, jaw-droppingly picturesque, and had the perfect amount of adventure. We are already looking forward to booking with Cotswold Walks again in the near future and bringing more of the family with us! Thank you Cotswold Walks!

I just wanted you to know that we really enjoyed our hiking holiday. We had several “wow” moments on our walks. Loved Blockley. My fellow Fr. Brown fans are very jealous. The gardens at Hidcote were beautiful as well as the open garden tours in Chipping Campden. We made a few wrong turns here and there (mostly due to operator error). The downloaded maps on the cell phone were very useful.

We were 100% happy with our Cotswold walking holiday, and are highly recommending your service to our friends and family.
It was the perfect trip and exceeded all expectations. We had said we wanted to walk about 20km a day at a medium level of difficulty, and to stay in 4-star accommodation in the heart of the villages, and that’s exactly what we got from the itinerary put together for us. We loved every single place we walked through and stayed at, so would recommend our entire itinerary. The walks recommended to us, which mainly followed The Heart of England Way, starting at Chipping Campden and ending in Bath, were unbelievably beautiful. We spent eight wonderful days surrounded by nature at its best. The English countryside really is heavenly. We also rate very highly the dining opportunities in all of the places we stayed. The food was fresh, seasonal and delicious! It was the best holiday experience we’ve ever had. Thank you so much!

I wanted to send a quick note expressing my appreciation for everything you did in making our Cotswolds adventures a success. It was truly a wonderful vacation in a very special part of the world, and we would not have enjoyed it nearly so much had you not made the arrangements. Many thanks.

We had an interesting trip this fall to the Cotswolds. Andrew did a great job setting up our self-guided trip, and everything went like clockwork. His company is priced well and is very trustworthy.

Thank you for arranging our wonderful Cotswold adventure. Such service! We followed the detailed walking directions and the maps in the booklet and only got off track a couple times for a very short distance. We had downloaded the map onto our phones, but didn't really need it. The walks were beautiful and each one was a bit different, which added to the adventure. We treasured our afternoon sitting in the pub playing bridge with the dogs and babies and locals gathered around. Just a perfect place with the friendliest people and situated ideally. We had wonderful experiences in both tea rooms, the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for arranging everything for us. We very much appreciated your attention to detail and quick follow-up to our many questions. You live in a beautiful part of the world! We're jealous!

We are so impressed with your directions. They had just the right amount of detail and were always spot on. We had no idea that the route would be as complicated as it is. In the US the trails are so few and far between that there is rarely a question of which path to take. We feel as if we are on a treasure hunt. Thanks for your help and excellent planning!

The inns/hotels were very nice. All the drivers you recommended were excellent. Luggage pickup/drop-off worked great. Written instructions to make sure the maps are installed on a mobile device could have been really helpful. The trail guides in the book were better than the Bibury and Slaughter loops. One of the things you might want to understand is the experience level of your hikers. I think that Cathy and I would both have told you that we were fit, but more of a beginner level in hiking with maps. Both of us had the expectation that following the trail directions was going to be easier than it was. Overall, it was a really good trip and we saw many beautiful landscapes, vistas, and villages. I know that I will retain great memories and thanks for setting this up for us.

Oh, we had a wonderful time hiking the Cotswolds - and thanks to you for everything you did to ensure our trip was nothing but enjoyable! The maps were beyond fabulous (!), all the places we stayed were lovely and the shuttling of suitcases from place to place went without a hitch. We are truly enamoured with England with these national footpaths. A new rhythm of life becomes possible when doing such a long walking trip, through the farmers fields, into the villages, all the gates passed through, the churches/museums visited along the way. We are hooked! We also enjoyed the trips out to Highgrove Gardens, thanks for that suggestion and to Blenheim Palace, of course.

Thank you for an absolutely great walk in the Cotswolds. The inns and hotels you selected were comfortable, accommodating and conveniently located, many were historical in their own right. The information you provided for the daily walks was helpful and for the most part kept us on target and on trail. IT took us a few days to become comfortable following directions, but we got better the farther along we went. Phil at Claremont cars was a saint keeping up with all our transportation needs and changes we required as we walked. The play in Stratford-upon-Avon couldn't have been funnier and the accommodation in Oxford was a great choice. Thanks for everything.

We really appreciated the walking guide book you provided. We talked with a few walkers on the way who were using a different provider. Some had a text only based guide. Your text, map, occasional picture guide was vastly better (we did get lost a few times but always figured things out). The bag move was always seamless and wonderful. Next of course are the inns. It was interesting in the differences between each property. We found that it was best not to contrast and compare but to accept and enjoy each property on its own. Because breakfast was provided it was an immediate strong point of the walk. Each property did it a little differently, but it was always a tasty and filling start for the day. We would happily recommend Cotswold Walks to anyone.

I just wanted to write and tell you what a fabulous trip we had and the tour was the highlight. The walking combined with the gardens made for a travel experience unlike anything I have done before. I feel like I came to see the land in a much more memorable and meaningful way than my more conventional travels. I can't imagine traveling any other way now! Your tour of the open house gardens was so special and enjoyable. It was a wonderful contrast to the big estates and National Trust properties. Thank you both for such a special extension to the tour. It was a perfect trip and I am thoroughly in love with England.

Thank you for setting up our Cotswold walk. Everything was perfect, even the weather! The accommodations were comfortable and full of charm. The hikes were beautiful and refreshing without being too strenuous for a couple of middle-aged Americans. Your maps and directions were easy to follow. Bag transfers went smoothly. Overall, perfect.

Just back after a lovely couple of days in the Cotswolds. Everything went like clockwork - again! The walk from Guiting Power via Temple Guiting, Ford and Snowshill and on to Stanton was one of the best stretches with beautiful views and not too many hills. We are already planning next years trip.

I want to pass along our thanks and tell you how much we both enjoyed the itinerary you planned for us. Each walk was well mapped and just the right length. The lodges you arranged for us were all welcoming and comfortable. We’ll both recommend your services and look forward to an opportunity to book with you again soon!

Our trip went very well, your directions were also very good, and the walks well-spaced. The area is spectacular too. We really enjoyed ourselves, you arranged the weather beautifully, and we hope to return.

Andrew, we are at the airport at the end of our fabulous trip. Everything ran so smoothly. All our taxis were waiting for us as planned and each of them was as nice as could be. We left the phone at The Lamb Inn this morning, and felt that with everything organized so well, we didn't even need to use until calling Reg for the ride today. Thank you for everything. We enjoyed the walks immensely.

As you remember, you planned a one-off for us. We had self-guided walks for a week from two centres for which you provided accommodations, routes and information, pick-up and deliveries. It was a schedule that had potential for confusion yet it all went without a flaw. The locations of Chipping Campden and Bourton-on-the-Water were wonderful.

After seeing the tourists and traffic in Moreton-in-Marsh, we were pleased you chose elsewhere for us to lodge. The walks were each different and, with the exception of the heat, not taxing. The guides were easy to follow once we realized there had been changes in some of the gates, but we were never seriously lost. The walks took us through wonderful scenery, into charming villages and towns, past historically interesting places, and provided us with a wide variety of activities -- avoiding sheep droppings, watching birds, admiring gardens, pub hopping, visiting churches, follies, ruins, markets and learning about field gates. It was more than we could have imagined. The drivers of the cars that took us to the start of walks and picked us up at the end of the day, and who ferried our luggage when we moved location, were always on time, helpful and full of suggestions when asked, and because they were local and knew the area, gave good advice.

The only "problem" we encountered was on the walk from Chipping Campden to Hidcote Manor and Gardens., where a section of the path that is over the railroad, leading to the farm from the cultivated area, is greatly overgrown with stinging nettles and is difficult to follow in places. Otherwise, all other paths were clear and obvious.

We very much enjoyed the entire experience and the fine weather, except for the heat, the entire week. We had no specific expectations, never having been to this area of England, and found the entire experience worthwhile, enjoyable and greatly entertaining. The care and attention you put into our trip was evident and we very much appreciate your work.

My husband and greatly enjoyed our walking tour. It was our first and will not be our last. We liked the fact that it let us walk freely with a loose agenda, but provided enough guidance to get us there. Occasionally the directions were a little confusing, but we worked through it. We liked the variety of accommodations provided (a small inn on the outskirts of town, an old hotel right on the main street...), it was a nice taste of what's available. The area is beautiful and even the weather co-operated nearly 100%. We've recommended your company to several friends.
AND you were the only company who managed to pull a trip together at the last moment for us which was much appreciated!
