You will have the opportunity to visit two beautiful gardens on the way, Hidcote Manor Gardens and Kiftsgate Court Gardens.

Your cycle tour will then continue on through Broadway Tower Country Park, worth a detour for the amazing views of the Cotswolds.

The route passes through the lavender fields at Snowshill, an amazing kick to the senses around harvest time (early July). You may wish to stop and visit Snowshill Manor, a National Trust property full of the extraordinary treasures collected by Charles Wade. For more information visit their website.

Arrive in Broadway, often referred to as the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds', Broadway is perfectly located to be the base from which to enjoy some of the finest walking in the Cotswolds. The village also boasts a rich artistic heritage, and is brimming with fine eateries, inns, magnificent houses, and quirky independent shops located on the pretty High Street, the 'broad way'.

DAY THREE

Choose from three circular walks – Snowshill circular, Belas Knap or Sudeley Valley
9.25 miles/14.8 km or 5 miles/8 km

Snowshill circular walk

Walk out of Broadway along the Cotswold Way enjoying fine views and continue on to the perfectly preserved village of Stanton which appears frozen in time. With the Grade-I listed 12th century church where John Wesley is said to have preached, and the honey-coloured cottages as backdrop, Stanton will take you back in time. Continue the walk to the idyllic village of Snowshill where you may wish to visit Snowshill Manor and enjoy a leisurely pub lunch. Meander down into Snowshill valley, gradually descending back into Broadway, and walk past St Eadburgha’s Church, the older of Broadway’s two Church of England churches which dates back to the 12th century.

Winchcombe to Belas Knap

Take the steam train to Winchcombe to start the walk. Walk along some beautiful sections of the Cotswold Way towards Cleeve Hill and up to one of the Cotswolds’ most intriguing ancient monuments, the Neolithic Belas Knap Long Barrow. As you continue your walk, the route will offer some wonderful views over the valley and Sudeley Castle below before taking you back to the ancient Saxon capital of Winchcombe.

Sudeley Valley

Take the steam train to Winchcombe to start the walk. Walk across wide-open fields and through pastureland to climb up to a Civil War vantage point, where you will be rewarded with views towards Sudeley Castle. Walk past St Kenelm’s Well that’s reputed to have healing properties and enjoy elevated views across the valley, with Belas Knapp hidden by the woods on the opposite side of the valley. The route then takes you back to Winchcombe passing Sudeley Castle with its award-winning gardens.

DAY FOUR

Cycle to Bourton-on-the-Water
25.9 miles/41.8 km

Today your route will take you through Stanway and on to Winchcombe where you will have a chance to visit Sudeley Castle and Gardens. Then you will continue to the charming villages of Guiting Power, Lower Swell and the Slaughters, all of which will offer ideal chocolate-box photo opportunities. There will be plenty of chances to stop for refreshments, from the ‘post office’ in Guiting Power offering superb tea and cake, to the wonderful Slaughters Country Inn with its lovely garden. Take your time and arrive in Bourton just as the day visitors leave and marvel at its quaintness.

DAY FIVE

Choose from two circular walks

Bourton to Naunton circular walk – 10 miles/16 km

Head out of Bourton along the Windrush Way to Naunton with its picturesque village and pub for a welcome break at the half-way point. Return along the Warden's Way via valleys and woodlands through Upper and Lower Slaughter.

Bourton-on-the-Water circular walk - 5 miles/8 km

A shorter version of the above walk, turning back halfway, before reaching Naunton and walking back to Bourton through the idyllic villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter.

Optional extra night: Circular cycle loop from Bourton-on-the-Water through the Barringtons – 20.5 miles/33 km

Today’s cycle route will take you through some of the best 'off the beaten track' routes in the Cotswolds. You will cycle through the beautiful villages of Great Rissington and Great Barrington. There is an option to visit Burford with its charming high street sloping down to the Windrush river and Northleach with its beautiful wool church.

DAY SIX

Cycle to Moreton-in-Marsh

15 miles/24 km

The route today heads towards the Evenlode valley, with hidden picturesque villages off the beaten track. It is a fairly easy ride back to Moreton-in-Marsh; however, you may wish to extend your cycling by either a detour to historic Stow-on-the Wold (11km) or villages of Bledington, Kingham and Churchill (9km).
